I make my own non-diary milks at home, including soy, almond, cashew and hemp seed milk. Of these, my favourite is hemp seed milk (for reasons you will also come to love if you start making it).
SO EASY TO MAKE!
Some people are put off making their own non-diary milk as it normally involves soaking and sieving the pulp. I was delighted when I discovered hemp seed milk as there is no need for soaking nor sieving! It is so easy and fast to whip up, you can make it whenever you feel like it or run of out “milk”.
Hemp seeds are soft, delicious and mild in flavour. You can sprinkle or add them on any dish to give you a boost of extra nutrient as hemp is considered a Superfood.
Hemp seed milk is creamy and rich and tastes great in smoothies, with cereals and can be used as a milk alternative in any recipe.
BENEFITS OF HEMP MILK
Hemp seeds are high in protein and ideal for vegans to consume regularly as a source of protein
Believe it or not, hemp seed contains more calcium than diary milk. 8 ounces of hemp milk contains almost half the recommended daily allowance. Hemp milk is rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids in the optimal ratio, which makes it good for the heart and brain. It is also rich in magnesium, iron, and other minerals.
LET’S MAKE IT!
